3,000,000 ELECTORS.
NEXT AUSTRALIAN POLL. COMPULSORY VOTING LAW. There are now 3,106.588 names on the Australian Federal electoral roll, and the officials at the Commonwealth electoral office expect that with the normal increase by next March the total will have increased to 3,250,000. hi that month the Federal election will be held, the first under the compulsory voting law. . After making allowances for voters whom death will remove or who will be prevented from exercising the franchise through illness, absence from Australia, or some other valid circumstance, it is expected that at least 3,000,000 voters will go to the poll. At the election in 1922 when 2,082,424 names were on the roll, only 58 per cent, voted.
