BANDITS IN CANADA.
remote station raided. TWO OFFICERS FATALLY SHOT. S„ n . OTTAWA. Mar. 10. A telegram from Winnipeg states that Mr. John Chnffev, a Canadian-Pacific Kailway agent, at Walsh, a remote station, was awakened early in the morning by the breaking of glass. He opened a window in liis bedroom above the station. A voice commanded him jo go and open the safe. Three bandits then besieged Mr. Chaffey, who locked himself in upstairs and telegraphed lo the nearest station. The authorities there sent out a locomotive with several armed men. On t heir arrival I hey found nothing. Thinking the bandits had escaped t hey separated and searched. Two shots were then heard and two officers were found to have been fatally shot. A large armed party was then organised, but the bandits escaped under cover of a storm which was raging.
