THE MOUAT MYSTERY.
DETECTIVES SEEKING CLUE. FURTHER DIGGING OPERATIONS. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHUECH. Wednesday. Detectives, in their efforts to find some clue which might throw light upon the whereabouts of Mrs. Mount, to-day made inquiries as to the identity of a woman who was seen wailing for a tram in Wilson's Road, not far from the Mouat home, shortiy after eight, o'clock on February 21. It is thought possible the woman was Mrs. Mount. Police officers were again at the bungalow in Beck ford Road to-day, when several hours were spent within the hovjse in taking observations and forming possible theories. Three detectives were engaged in digging up the ground in front of the residence., which had not been explored previously. A written statement was obtained from Mouat by tho police after his arrest, but. this has not been helpful to them in their inquiries. The police throughout New Zealand are maintaining the strictest vigilance in their search for the missing woman.
