Coast Steamship Company to grant a claim for sick pay for firemen on their steamer, the Yulgilbar, the entire crew gave notice of their intention to ceasa work. All efforts to. effect a settlement* failed and the vessel is held up. The company states that the action of the men is a further attempt at jobcontrol. Fresh trouble - has arisen with the Commonwealth Line. The Seamen's Union has refused to man the chartered steamer, Dilgar, as some of the former! members of the crew of the Forsaala were signed on, arid thb union men re-, fused to work with them. At Melbourne the maritime conference* convened by the Trades Hall Council, in an endeavour to arrive at » basis for the settlement of the waterfront disputes, has been resumed.
