FINED FOR ASSAULT.

WRONG MAN ATTACKED. HAMILTON EPISODE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN' CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON Monday. Charges of assault were brought against Arthur Ryan and Jack Barnes, neither of whom made an appearance, before Mr. H. A. Young, S.M., to-day. It was alleged that the two men pulled Henry Hull out of a taxi and punched him when he was down. When interviewed, they said they had made a mistake and assaulted the wrong man. The assault took place at 10 o'clock at night. The police stated that Ryan had been before the Court for theft, and was at present on probation. Barnes had been fined for '•dodging" drill. Ryan, in a statement, admitted the assault, but said that Barnes had told him that Hull had kicked a mate of his (Ryan's) on the head. ' Each accused was fined £lO and costs.
