WOODEN JEWELLERY.

Hand-painted wooden "jewellery" is the latest ornamental novelty to attract attention. Long ear-rings are cut from fine wood and painted in most pleasing colours. The designs are varied; probably the prettiest is a long, quaint, four-sided shape, with the middle partly cut away to throw into relief the figure of a little lady in a crinoline a the base of the earring. To be worn with these wooden farrings, which they match in design, aro tall combs made entirely of wood, prongs as well. A ,'ovely model represents a glade, with the tops of cypress tires breaking the straight, outer lino of the comb. On one side Columbine and Harlequin may be seen about to run toward one another; on the reverse side a bewildered Pierrot is trying to find them. For bobbed or shingled heads thjro are hand-painted square hair slides, vhich make a frame for lovely little figures Inside a jade green slide sits a dainty lady, and above her, waiting to shoot his bow, Cupid is perched on a bar. This slide is worn at the side of the head.
