GROWTH OF POPULATION.
COMMON WEA LT H RETURNS. A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE. Feb. 20. The Commonwealth Statistician states that the population of Australia at September 30, 1924. totalled 5,855,187. This is an increase of 85,380 since the end of December, 1923. An excess of births over deaths accounted for 59,595 of the increase and immigration for 25,785.
