STORMS IN AUSTRALIA.
WIDE AREA COVERED. FLOODS CAUSE DAMAGE. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Feb. 12. Storms, accompanied by torrential raiu and bail were experienced at Lismore, 104 miles south-west of Melbourne, and ,'lunee, 287 miles south of Sydney. Low-lying areas were flooded, and much damage was done to shops and houses. At Junee the water was knee deep. During yesterday's thunderstorm in Melbourne the fusing of the electric wires iu various places disorganised the train and tram services. Lightning severely damaged the electric power sub-station at Cambcrwell, a suburb of Melbourne, destroyed a house at Belwyn, aud wrecked many others. Narrow escapes are reported. The fruit crops iu Penrose, Kareela and Goulburn districts, New South Wales, were destroyed by the storm. The damage is estimated at many thousands of pounds. ,
