AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. There was considerable activity on the Auckland sharemarket again yesterday. For> Government securities there was consistent inquiry for War Loans, though scarcely any holders -quoted. The 1938 issue sold at £97, with late buyers at £96 15s. Soldiers' Bonds were steady at late quotations. For Inscribed Stock the 1938 issue again sold at £97, with more available at that figure. There was a sale of Soldiers' Inscribed at £lOl, with late buyers at £IOO 10s. In banks New Zealands sold at 535, with more available at the same price, buyers 52s 6d. Bank of Now Zealand rights sold at 31s 6d at each of the three calls, holders rising from 31s 9d to 32s during the day. while buyers dropped 2d to 31s 6d. Unions of Australia changed hands at £l4 3s, closing quotations showing holders at £l4 ss, buyers £l4 2s. In insurances holders of New Zealands asked 31s, with buyers 6d below that figure. South British were steady throughout the day at holders 47s 6d, buyers 475. In gas Aucklands stood at Wednesday's rates, though there was no sale. In Birkenhead and Northcote there was a transaction at 15s, closing holders asking 17s, buyers 14s. Holders of Wilsons Cement dropped from 30s 9d to 30s 6d, a sale being recorded at the latter figure, buyers 30s 3d. In mining Waihis showed no change, holders being again at 26s and buyers at 25s 6d. I 1 or Waihi Grand Junctions holders asked Is 8d without response. Tho following sales took place:—New Zealand War Loan, 1938. £97; New Zealand Inscribed Stock, 1938, £97; Sold set a Inscribed, 1933, £101; Bank of New Zealand, 535; Bank of New Zealand (rights), 31s 6d; Union Bank of Australia, £l4 3s; Birkenhead and Northcote Gas, 15s; Wilsons Cement, 300 6d.
