DETAILS OF PROGRAMME. THE CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS. The programme for the New Zealand championship band contest, to commence in Auckland ,011 Monday, February 23, has been drawn up and approved by the contest committee. It provides for all manner of band music, both solo and concerted. The programme is as follows: — Mondav, February 23. Society of Arts Hail: 9 a.m., Bb baritone solo; Town Hall concert chamber, 9 a.m., Eb cornet solo; Town Hall, noon, civic reception bv the Mayor; Town Hall concert chamber, 2 p.m., trombone trios; Society of Arts Hall, 2 p.m., fiugel horn solo; Domain, 6.30 p.m., A grade contest, first test. Tuesday, February 24. —lown Hall concert chamber: 9 a.m., Bb euphonium solo; Society of Arts IlaH, 9 a.m., Lib tenor horn" solo; Town Hall concert chamber 2 p.m., Bb cornet solo; Society of Arts Hall, 2 p.m., P>b trombone solo; Domain, 6.30 p.m., B grade contest, first test. . Thursday, February 26.—Town Hall concert chamber; 9 a.m., BB flat bass solo; Society of Arts Hall, 9 a.m., Eb bass solo; Auckland Rugby League rooms, 9 a.m., conference of delegates to N. 1.8.8. Association; Town Hall concert chamber, 2 p.m., quartettes; Domain, 6 p.m., A grade contest, second test. Friday, February 27. —Society of Arts Hall: 9 a.m.. Boys' solo, any instrument; Society of Arts Hall, 10 a.m., representatives of bands will draw for places in march on Saturday; Domain, 6.30 p.m., B grade contest, second test. Saturday, February 28.—Domain: 12 noon, quickstep contest march, B and C grade bands. All B and C grade bands will muster at Beresford Street at 11 a.m. for march to Domain, to be followed bv A grade grand quickstep competition'march. Ail A grade bands will muster at Beresford Street at 1.30 p.m. for march to Domain. At the Domain on Saturday evening there will be a hymn selection, to be followed by the presentation of prizes. Advice has been received that the Timaru Garrison Band will be a competitor. This band has a long and successful record among tho A grade bands of New Zealand. All the challenge shields, cups and medals have arrived in Auckland, and arrangements are being made to display them. Arrangements have also been made for a motor bus service for visiting bands. The Newmarket Borough Council has decided to place the hall and basement of tho council chambers at the disposal of the committee during the contest.
