MAMMITIS IN COWS.

TEST OF NEW VACCINE. EXPERIMENTS AT RUAKURA. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON. Wednesday The test of the vaccine discovered by the bacteriologist at the Waikato Hospital, which is claimed to give cows suffering from mammitis immunity from fuither attacks of the disease, is being carried out by representatives of the Department of Agriculture at the Rnakura Farm. Ten sound cows have been inoculated with the vaccine. The third and last injection was given to-day, and it is proposed to place these animals in a paddock with a number of mammitis-infected cows. It is considered that if the treated cows do not become infected during the next milking season the efficacy of the prophylactic vill be pretty well established! If circumstances warrant, the de-, partment will be prepared to test the vaccine on a much more extensive scale than has so far been undertaken.
