MILFORD ACTIVITIES.

MEETING OF RATEPAYERS. The adjourned meeting of the Milford Ratepayers' Association was held on Tuesday, Mr. G. A. Malcolm presiding in the absence of tho president. A number of complaints were made regarding unsatisfactory conditions of travel on the Takapuna tramways. The smoke nuisance, overcrowding and the dirtiness of some of the cars were and it 1 was decided to write to the management on the subject. An assurance was received from the council that any evidence of the direct removal of sand, from the beach would be followed by a prosecution. The committee decided to do what it could in thematter. . A satisfactory explanation was received from the school committee regarding the removal of trees from the school site. It was stated the action was in the best interests of the community, and would promote the welfare of the children. It was decided to write to the Borough Council pointing out. the urgency of placing lights in Saltburn and Pierce "Roads, and requesting that, attention be paid to cattle wandering in the district. Suitable candidates for the municipal elections, to be held in April, are avail-., able, and committees arc being set up to support their interests.
