HAMILTON BEAUTY SPOT.

SWANS AND DUCKS ON LAKE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] HAMILTON. "Wednesday. Since the introduction of the tame swans and ducks at the Hamilton lake a notable increase has Taken place in the numbers of wafer fowls at the lake. On occasions one can now see as many as 200 ducks on the water at one time. These birds will help materially in checking the spread of aquatic weeds. One of the white swans died during the winter, but two more cygnets are on order from tho Masterton Park, and will be forwarded this month. The desirability of forming .'two or three islands in tho centre of the lake, where the water is shallow, in order to afford shelter and sanctuary for tho waterfowl, has been suggested to tho board by the laie chairman, Mr. H. C. Fowler. These islands could be formed quite easily at small cost, said Mr. Fowler, and they' would not interfere with the pleasure or convenience of boating enthusiasts, while they would add greatly to tho picturesqucness of the lake.
