OBITUARY.
ARNOLD WHITE, AUTHOR. x , ind NZ. LONDON. Feb. 6. ' The death of Mr. Arnold White, author, is announced. The late Mr. Arnold White, who was born in 1843, devoted roost of his literary activities to social problems, and in conrection with colonisation work frequently visited South Africa, Canada, the United States and Russia. He was an ardent supporter of a strong British Navy and the development of gunnery. His numerous publications include '' the Modern Jew 4 'Problems of a Great City, The Great Idea; the Navy and Its Story, and "Is the Kaiser Insane! As a journalist he wrote 'as v anoc of the Referee. LORD BLYTH. A. and N.Z. LONDON. Feb. 8. The death is announced of Lord IHytli. Lord Blvth was in his 84th year. He wa * a keen agriculturist and published ceivWal books on viticultural and agricultural questions. Other subjects which sained his attention included the fiscal and commercial policy of the Empire, cheap postal and telegraphic communication, and the necessity for a commercial alliance between Britain and France. The heir to the title, the Hon Herbert William Blvth, is 56 years of age.
