MOUNT ALBERT AFFAIRS.

Sir, —It has been amusing to read several letters -appearing recently -on tho above subject and to follow the arguments that are used to bolster-.tip a ease for joining the city. "Disgusted 1 wants to join the city to get away from the sanitary and tlio house refuse services. The same services are in use in t-he outer areas.. of, the city, the former where drainage reticulation doei not, exist. How ■ "Disgusted" expects to get old stoves, .bedsteads, ' etc.. into the regulation rubbisb tin is a mystery, and, that fs the reason why a clean-up week is necessary from- time to time. Mount AlbeH was the first local body in Auckland to hava a clean-up ,week this summer. It took place before the present epidemic made its appearance, and if "Disgusted's" backyard is still encumbered with rubbish, as he states, it is high time ill the interest of public health that the sanitary authorities get on his track. His final reason for advocating joining the city is that a short stretch of Dominion- Road at the New North Road end is not concreted. He might be interested to know that the eastern half of this very- jiiece of road complained of is under the city's control; so "Disgusted's" condemnatory letter must apply equally to tbtf authority he is so anxious to join. Careful - consideration of til© pros and cons is necessary before deciding to make a change. Pate Pwt.
