BIRKENHEAD-WORTH COTE WIN The Birkenhead arid Norfhcote team defeated St. Heliers by 10 matches to 3 in the 0 grade inter-club competition under the control of the Auckland Tennis Association on Saturday. Details are as follow, Birkenhead and Northcoto names being given first:Men's Singles.—E. Cavaye beat Diamond, G —4, 6~2; A. Taylor beat P. Wrathall, 6—2. 5 —6, 6—3; D. Newman lost to Horapool, o—g 3—6; K. C'orbett beat Cooper, 6—l, 6—4. Ladies' Singles.—Miss Entwistle beat Miss Hume, 6—2, 6—2; Miss Maxwell beat Miss Goldsboro, 6—l. & —l. Men's Doubles.—Cavaye and Taylor beat Diataond and Wrathall. 6—o, 6—B; Newman and Corbett lost to Horspool and Copper, 6—3, 2—6, 6—4; Elder and Derrick beat Edmunds and Mabbett. 6—5. 6—2. In a match played here on Saturday between Hamilton and Tanmarurmi tennis teams for tiie Waikato Association's banner, Hamilton won by 14 sets so five. CHURCH COURT OPENED. [BV TELEGRAM. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON. Monday. A new tennis court, formed on Mr. T. IT. Pearson's property. Chuidelands, by the Church of Christ Bible Class, was officially opened on Saturday. There was a large attendance of members of the church and their friends, and Mr. J. Foster, pastor, formally declared the court open. A series of friendly games followed. Mrs. Pearson acted as hostess.
