DOMINION RAILWAYS.
ENGINEER FROM ENGLAND. MR. LYNDE SAILS IN MARCH. A. and N.Z. LONDON. Jan. 27. Mr. Gilbert Lynde, formerly in the service of the Great Central Railway, will sail on March 3 to take up the position of chief mechanical engineer to the New Zealand Railways.
The appointment of Mr. Lynde was confirmed by the Minister for Railways, the Hon. J. G. Coates, last evening. Mr. Coates said Mr. Lynde was recommended for the position by the English railway commissioners who were recently in New Zealand, and by Sir John Aspinall, who represents the NewZealand Railways Department in London. Applications were called for the position sn New Zealand and abroad, and the man considered best qualified was chosen. Mr. Lynde would take up his duties immediately on arrival in the Dominion.
