The fund established by the Times for the restoration of St. Paul's Cathedral lias- reached a total of £193,722. This includes over £I6OO from church collections and individual gifts. General Booth sent £250 collected by the Salvation Army headquarters. A conference called to discuss the danger of the collapse of St. Paul's dome appointed a committee to deal with the matter. This consists of the Dean and Chapter, the trustees of the fabric of the cathedral, ami an architect. The committee is to be assisted by expert advisers, one each to be nominated by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, and the Institutes of British Architects and Civil Engineers, plus four co-opted men of recognised public standing. The Lord Mayor of London stated in an interview that if the grouting process were carried out, the present piers of St. Paul's would hist for another 200 years. He said there was not the slightest doubt that grouting would be effective. No one need fear that the dome would collapse if the work were expeditiously performed.
