OTHER RAILWAY SYSTEMS.
STUDY BY NEW ZEALANDERS. OFFICERS TO CO ABROAD. In pursuance of his policy to send railway officers abroad to study the methods adopted in the systems of other countries, the Minister for Railways, the Hon. J. G. Coates, announced last evening that Mr. W. R. Davidson, assistant chief engineer, and Mr. Pickard, of the traffic and staff branch, have been selected to gain such experience. These are in addition to those officers mentioned in the Heraud of yesterday. Messrs. Davidson and Pickard will study defined subjects of railway administration applying to their own particular branch. They will proceed at the end of next month or early in March to the United States and later to Canada and Great Britain, returning thence to New Zealand.
