CRIMINAL CALENDAR.

SESSION OPENS ON TUESDAY. THE SIMPKIN MURDER TRIAL. SIX MANSLAUGHTER CHARGES. The first criminal session for 1925 will open in the Auckland Supreme Court next Tuesday. The list although so far not a heavy one contains many charges of a serious nature. There is a total of six manslaughter cases, as against one at. the last, session of last year. Four arose through'motor accidents. James Simpkin will bo tried for murder-of his wife at Remuera. Two cases, those of John Frederick Davis Telford, alleged rape at Auckland, and Joseph Balle, alleged manslaughter at Hamilton, were adjourned from last session. Following is the calendar John Frederick Davis Telford, alleged rape, at Auckland. , Joseph Balle, alleged manslaughter, at Hamilton. Michael Walsh, alleged theft from tho person, at Tauranga. James Knight, alleged indecent a.ssault on a female, at Auckland. Ernest John Brasting, alleged assault and causing actual bodily harm, at Auckland. James Simpkin, alleged murder, at Auckland. Ernest Arnold Curtis, alleged rape with attempt at carnal knowledge of an imbecile, at Auckland. William Pitman, alleged manslaughter, at Auckland. Charles Henry Glover, alleged forgery and uttering, at Auckland, Edward Jack Cromer, alleged false pretences (two charges), at Auckland. George Thomas Nelson, alleged theft, forgery and uttering, and false pretences/ 1 at Auckland. Thomas Clarence Carswell, alleged bigamy, false declaration to registrar of marriages. and false statement under the Marriage Act, at Auckland. Harold Henry Williams, alleged assault with intent to*commit a crime, at Auckland. Ronald Walker, alleged indecent assault on a male (six charges), at Whangarei. George Denton, alleged manslaughter, at. Auckland. Geoffrey William Wavmouth, alleged manslaughter, at Auckland. Martha Jane O'Shaughncssy, alleged rise of an instrument with intent to procure miscarriage, at Auekland. Wilfred James Wheeler, alleged manslaughter, at, Auckland.
