REJUVENATING THE FACE.

Tired or sagging muscles, which give the lace a wan appearance, could up to quite recently only be improved by a very painful process. " This was a surgical operation, which 1 consisted of cutting the skin of the face in front of, and just beneath, the ears, removing a certain portion of it, and sewing up the face. Such an operation sometimes resulted in merely tightening the skin without strengthening the muscles.

The latest method for bracing up the »*-gging muscles of the face, restoring its .youthful contour, and removing a double chin is u remarkably simple one, which can quite easily he carried out at home and which only requires perseverance to achieve success.

Before beginning to treat the face the skin should be thoroughly cleansed. This can Lie done with warm water and a good soap, making a thick creamy lather and working it with the tips of the fingers into the face and throat. Rinsing with warm and cold water must follow.

A pocket-handkerchief must then be folded like a bandage, and upon this a teaspoonful or a little more of an astringent and reducing vinegar must be sprinkled. The tolded handkerchief is then held with the fingers of both hands, and the skin beneath the chin and around the cheeks is given quick, sharp little pats with the handkerchief. Ten minutes each night and morning should be devoted to this treatment, and in the "course of a week or ten days a most remarkable improvement will be noticed in the contour of the face.

When the checks have become too plump for real beauty a little of the vinegar can be patted into them, and the unwanted flesh will soon disappear •without leaving the skin flabby—a condition which invariably results when attempts are made to reduce excessive fleshiness by massage. Should the skin be a very dry one it is advisable to smear a little cream over the face and throat after the "patting" treatment, and a greasy skin will be much improved if dabbed over with a little rosewater and spirits of camphor in the proportion of two parts of rosewater to one part of spirits of camphor.
