THE WHAKATANE WORKS. LOCAL BODIES' CONFERENCE. [BI TELEGRAPH. —OWN CO&BKSPONDSirT.] WHAKATANE. Saturday. A meeting of delegates from the Tauranga, Whakatane, and Opotiki County Councils, and the Whakitane ' Borough Council, was Iv' ' to-day to consider the question of act, zing the East Coast freezing works. T/he following resolution wa3 carried:— That this conference approves of the proposal for the acquisition of the East Coast company's freezing establishment and assets by the ratepayers of the' Bay of Plenty, being referred to a further conference of representatives of the local public bodies concerned, with a view to giving the ratepayers of the area upon which it may be decided to strike a rate an opportunity of expressing their opinion.
