CHRISTMAS TREATS.

ENJOYABLE FUNCTIONS. The patients of the Auckland Infirmary, Epsom, were entertained on Saturday afternoon at a Christmas tea organised by Mr. - Lonsdale Pritt, The tea was presided over by Bishop Averill, and waa supplemented by a concert arranged by Mrs. TolhursL Items, which were much enjoyed, were given by Mrs. W. 8. Canavan, Miss Averill, Miss Leatham, and .Mr. F. McCallum, and the Old English Glee Society, under Mrs. A. Talbot. Miss Judson acted as accompanist. Mr. W. A. Mcintosh expressed the patients' thanks for the kind spirit prompting the entertainment. The breaking-up ceremony at St. James' Freo Kindergarten, Archhill, was celebrated by a Christmas party, a large number of children and their parents being present. A well-supplied Christmas tree and tho presence of Santa Claus with . presents for the young folk made the occasion a very happy one. About 200 children, many of them drawn from the poorest homes in the city, were entertained to a Christmas tree and party on Saturday afternoon at the Alexandra Street Methodist Mission. -Tho officers and teachers of the Sunday School transformed the schoolroom Into a veritable fairy land, festoons of balloons and coloured paper making a very pretty display, while a large Christmas tree, beautifully decorated, was burdened with gifts for. the children. Mr. F. Crespin welcomed the guests. Each child received a. Christmas gift, ice cream, cakes and other edibles.
