MENTAL LAZINESS.
Weakness of will i ; ; sometimes the out- I come of mental indolence. ft is less trouble to, get someone else to decide j for us. than it is to exert our own brains j and to weigh the ptos and Cons carefully. Moreover, if matters should eventually turn out the v. long way, there is at least some sort of satisfaction in being able to lay the blame at someone else's door! j Some girls float along comfortably for j years on other ■ people's decisions, other i people's suggestions, other people's ideas. J never troubling to think out things for themselves if only they can got someone : else to do the thinking for them. This method of getting easily through j life may pass muster for a little while. ; But sooner or later there comes a time j when a girl or woman must think for , herself; when no one can, or will, think j for hersome crisis when she finds her- i self miserably alone, with no one able to | advise or relieve her of her responsibility, j Then, if she lias never trained herself to j iiink and act on her own initiative, her j lot is difficult indeed 1 ! Tn order to strengthen our will-power j and develop forccfuincss of character, it. | is necessary, in the first place, to believe ; in our destiny—that is to say. we must recognise that we have not been dropped down into this world in a haphazard fashion, but have been p'necd here for a distinct purpose, with definite work waiting for us to handle. And if we have bee.i plwc.»d here to do Specific, work, then the ability to do that work will be forthcoming for the seeking, Only we must set to work to thrash out I th* matter for ourselves The trouble with manv weaklings i- j that thev have no belief in their own 1 ability: '!•"■>• do not see that they lave power to do much more than they have j ever attemptedif only they would <■<»( j I-, worl- t" make an effort.—l'l'iMil the "Woman's Magazine, \
