TO-DAY'S FORECAST. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last night as follows:—Present indications are for south-cast to south-west winds, strong to gale, weather cold, unsettled and wet generally, and stormy in and northward of Cook Strait. Further heavy rain and floods may bo expected in many parts of the North Island and the northeast districts of tho South Island. Conditions may moderate- to-morrow. The barometer is rising in tho north and will fall shortly in tho south. herald special forecast. The following weather forecast for 43 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:— A general improvement in weather conditions is indicated, though further showers are likely in western and southern districts.
