The general manager of the Australasian Agency of the Lloyd Sabaudo Line referred to-day to the remarks of Sir John McWliao, formerly Agent-General for Victoria, to the effect that a fleet of Italian ships was on the. point of being finished to bring emigrants to Australia. He said the only Italian steamers carrying passengers to and from Australia were those of the Lloyd-Snbaudo Line and the Navigazionc General Italiano, which run a joint service.

The fares ranged from £56 10s to £38 10s. No deck passengers were now carried by Italian steamers trading to Australia. The meals provided were substantial. and the conditions under which immiiTran'.s travelled were set out by the Italian Government Department of 1 mnugrat ion.
