A boy named George Dudley, 11 years of a;;e, while bathing with numerous other children in the Waiarohia stream, was unfortunate in striking a piece of broken glass when he dived.

The fragment entered his chest, cutting it badly, and he had to be taken to the Whangarei Hospital to have the. glass extracted. Ho is reported to be progressing well.
