FRENCH AMBASSADORS.
REASON FOR LAST CHANGE.
STATEMENT AND A DENIAL.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 8.5 p.m.) LONDON. Deo. 16.
A message from Paris states that the Opposition newspaper, Liberto, publishes a statement to the effect that the decision to withdraw Comte Saint Aulaire from the Ambassadorship to London was reached on the eve of the British election. It was due to Mr. Ramsay MacDonald's request—forced upon him by his own extremists—that the Premier, M. should send an Ambassador to .Britain who was likely to bo more accommodating on the subject of international Socialism, This was the reason for the appointment of M. de Flouring.
The paper says it has awaited Comte Saint Aulaire's departuro from London before publishing the statement.
In commenting on the French paper's statement, Mr, Mac.Donald said it absolutely untrue that he had made any representations for tho withdrawal of Comte Saint Aulaire.
