FOUR-IN-HAND CRUSHING.
97 JjNCES FROM 3 7 TONS.
The f Mowing telegram was received yesterday from the manager of tho Four-in-Harid mine, Coromandel: —"Crushed 37 tons quartz and 281b. picked stono for a return of fi'/oz. lOdwt. retorted gold." Tho manager reports as follows :—Work has been continued in the third stope going south on tho Cuirassier reef above No. 1 level. Tho lode maintains its size, but the har/gingwall and fomwall ribs of quartz have pinched a little in places. No gold is visible in tho ore broken during tho week. Although I have reported recently ore of this nature as low grade, crushi.ig has proved that it. will go an ounce to the ton. Tho values are evidently associated with arsenical pyrites present in the ore.
