FRIAR, RICHARDS AND UPTON.
Engineers and all others interested in machinery are strongly advised to visit the Richards' .Upton building at the corner of Customs Street East and Breakwater Road. Here, at the Engineers' Depot, the staff of Messrs. Friar, Richards and Upton, will be pleased to exhibit a splendid stock of engineering^requirements of every description. This includes beltings, packings, jointings, bearing 3, water meters, steam traps, oils, greases, etc. A survoy of the windows and a walk through the warehouse will prove that, the Richards* Upton Building is certainly the one place in Auckland where engineers will find their every need supplied. While dealing in every engineering accessory, Friar, Richards and Upton are particularly noted for their famous linos of "Bulldog" genuine Balata, and " Gold Ribbon " rubber belting. Beltings for sewing machines, belting for conveyors, belting for any purpose and iu auv size can be obtained here. Another line worthy of special mention is the D.M. Boiler "Preservative, which is employed by users of steam throughout New Zealand. This compound not only keeps the boiler free from_ scale, but gives more efficiency, makes for economy in fuel, and reduces tho repair bill. Being free from chemicals, it is an ideal com " pound for use in creameries, dairies, and similar estab'ishments: . The well-known " Klingerit ' jointing, Klinger packing, and Klinger seatless valves aro used with unqualified success by engineers. Tho " Hyatt Roller Bearing is another speciality which commends itself to millowners and others. Bv using these bearings, 58 per cent, of energy required for driving power is saved* not to mention the resultant, economv ill oil. Mention of oils recalls the fact that the "Cascade" oils aro stocked in grades to meet all requirements. The Stirling water meter is another verv useful article stocked at the Engineers' Depot, also the Midget steam trap. Both of these are made in bronze, and in nil sizes, to meet the varied requirements of users. Another line well deserving or mention is the Alamo oil engine. Ihese engines are all self-contained, and present no D difficultics to the veriest amateur sstart with benzine, a switch over to kerosene. and these little engines prove themselves the most economical m the market for all purposes.
