F. G. STEINERT'S SHOPS AND CLEAN FACTORY.
MANY CHRISTMAS NOVELTIES.
Tho Toffee Store at 63, Queen Street, also at St. Kevin's Arcade, Karangahape Road, keeps an up-to-date confectionery factory going all 011 its own. All confectionery sold over the counter, with the exception of an infinitesimal quantity which is imported, is made in the firm's big, clean factory in Nelson Street. No outside firms aro supplied. Steinert sweets are sold only in Steinert s Toffee Store. That two shops can keep a factory going and support a pay-roll of 22 is rather remarkable, indicating as it does the great popularity of the firm's pro duct. Steinert's factory, which is open for public inspection at all times, is a bright, spacious and scrupulously clean establishment, where the many interesting processes in the making of wholesome sweets of every description may be watched with ease. The shining copper boilers aro heated by gas and tho tables by electricity. Clean aproned girls sit at the small tables, with tho electricallyheated vats in the centre, dipping chocolates or bon-bons by hand. The extreme care displayed in tho making of every individual confection would surprise most people. Many folk seem to nurture the idea that all sorts of sweets are turned out in shovelfuls by machinery. This certainly is not the case in Steinert's factory, which more nearly resembles a big, sunny, spotless and well-arranged kitchen than a factory. At the present timo Steincrts are producing many Xmas novelties. These include decorated chocolate shoes, also chocolate animals of many kinds to delight the kiddies. There aro rabbits, elephants, bears, cats, dogs, fish and many others —all perfectly moulded and very lifelike. Beautifully hand-painted boxes filled with sweets constitute another Xmas speciality which should make a wide appeal. 'Steincrts have been going strong for somo 28 years, the founder of the firm having established his American Boss Candy Kitchen in Auckland in 1896. Those who cannot visit tho loffee Storo at 63, Queen Street, may order by post. Steinerta do a big auail ordar business.
