NAVY MEN AT SPORT.
THE PHILOMEL TRAINEES.
A SUCCESSFUL MEETING.
The annual sports gathering of trainees of I H.M.S. Philomel was held at tho Naval Reserve at Devonport yesterday. The times registered in the various events proved conclusively the value of naval training in the development of physique. The programme included a splendid display cf field guns in action, by boys whose average age was 16. Great credit is duo to Petty Officer A. E. Smith, instructor, on the manner in which the display was carried out. Results were as follow :— Long Jump.—W. Martin. 15ft Sin. 1 : W. Lawson, 15ft 3in, 2. Hop, skip and jump: W.
