MICHAEL WAS MYSTIFIED.
Michael's mother had married again, and though Michael did not object to his now father, he was somewhat puzzled as to their relationship. "Mother." ho said, "is this man my stepfather?" "Yes, dear; he's your stepfather." "Well, mother," continued tho child, "you call me your little lad." "Yes, dearie, you are mamma's little lad." "Then, mother," continued Michael, "I suppose I must be my stepfather's little stepladder."
