FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN.
In this game there are two rings of players, one outside the other. The players forming the inner ring sit or kneel down, those in the other ring stand close behind them, though there should be a good space between the two rings. A single player stands in the centre, and presently calls out " Fire on the Mountain. Run! Run! Run," Those on the outside then gallop round as fast as they can, the rest sitting still, and the running is continued till tho one in the centre cries, "Stop." Then everybody, including the single player, tries to find a place behind one of the inner ring, and the boy or girl who is left out must take his or her turn in the centre.
