BOOTS USED AS SAFE.
PRISONER'S JEWELLERY LOST.
A Peckham man. sent to prison for 21 days for failing to maintain his wife, hid some jewellery in a pair of boots in a cupboard before ho wont to gaol. In his absence his landlord refused to take the rent of the rooms front" his sister and sbo removed tho furniture, but left the boots behind. They were either burned nr put in the dustbin and the jewellery disappeared. The owner sued the landlord for tho value of the jewellery, which ho estimated at £7 10s. Ho was awarded £4 and costs.
