ATTACK ON POLICEMAN.
MISTAKEN FOR BURGLAR. A policeman chased a burglar over a garden fence at (.'ratibrook, Uford, lately and caught hold of the man's foot. His shoe came off, however, and the fugitive escaped. A householder, hearing the seuffle, ran into the garden, and. in the darkness, mistook the officer, who was in plain clothes, for the burglar. A struggle took place until the householder found a mistake had been made. Many burglaries have taken place in various parts of llford recently, as many as six houses having been entered in one street during a night. The thief has been described as u "cat burglar,'* because he, has entered houses by < limbing j the slack-p'ipeis.
