NOTES BY PICADOR.

ALEXANDRA PARK APPOINTMENTS.

«!,- < th i a i* e jnosnificent grandstand on the Auckland Trotting Club's ground at f,r »fii / a . lark ls r n< ??»ns completion, the far-sighted vision of. the progressive spirits who control the affairs of that bodv is once again prominently placed. The more one surveys the great structure erected at Epsom, uie more does one become impressed with trie fact that the A.T.C. Committee has furnished a, striking illustration of thinking on big lines. Ino president of the A.T.C. Mr. John Howe, who must bo cited as one of tbe chief progressive spirits of the A.T.C, has been called upon to acknowledge many congratulations on the courage displayed in deciding on a plan which has given such > magnificent structure to Alexandra Park. Mr. Howe does not, however, by any moans consicer that the last word has been said in the matter of appointments a.t Epsom by the erection of the new grandstand, and he made it. o.mte clear to mo in the course of conversation recently that the installation of an electric totalisator at Alexandra Park is a mater that is well within the range of vision. With such an installation included in the appointments at Alexandra Park, the situation would be adequately controlled, aa the attendances at the Ensom ground have gone up by leaps and bounds.

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS Acron is nicely placed iu tho Auckland Cup, and at present is the most-discussed horse in connection with that event. The chance of Jewel is r.lso held in high esteem. A. Butter-field will steer Glenehz in the Great Northern Trotting Derby. The meetin}.' of GleneL' and Kohara, in this event is being awaited with interest. s

J. Bryce's representatives at the Auckland summer meeting will include Ahuriri, Kohara. Direct Chimes, and Pakoti.

rhose•good horses Native King and Harry Audubon are now being trained by P. Riddle.

The Australian reiusrnan. C. Rokkjer, who has had very little luck with his team since arriving hire early in the season, returned <o Sydney by the Marurua yesterday with Stylo, Native Prince, and Rock Allen.

It. is stated that P. Riddlo has decided not to persevere with Marion Style and Orion, and both horses will be returned to Australia at an early date.
