3NJURY TO NONAGENARIAN.
FALL S FROM A LADDER.
Suffering from a fractured thigh, Mr. Cornelius Deverall, aged 91, of Dexter Avenue, Dominion Eoad, wa-s admitted to the hospital shortly before noon yesterday. His condition is serious. Mr. Deverall slipped and fell heavily from a ladder which he had mounted to adjust a window blind.
As the result of a collision with. a motor-car while riding his bicycle down Upper Queen Street early yesterday afternoon, Mr. Eric Powell, aged 21, of 9, Anglesea Street, Ponsonby, was thrown heavily. He was admitted to the hospital in an unconscious condition, suffering from concussion and head abrasions. Mr. Powell's condition is not regarded as serious, but he had not regained consciousness at a late hour last evening. Injuries to the left hand which necessitated the amputation of two fingers were sustained by Mr. Frederick Taplin, of Richmond Road, Ponsonby, while working at a circular saw yesterday morning. A pieco of wood caught on the back of the saw, drawing Mr. Taplin's hand against it. The injured man, who is employed by Mr. G. J. Rosser, builder, was removed to the Auckland Hospital, where the operation was performed. Through falling out of a window at the residence of his aunt, at 5, Fernlcigh Street, Ponsonby, yesterday, George Batty, aged eight, had bis collarbone broken and also sustained head injuries. He was admitted to the hospital, where he is making satisfactory progress.
