AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE

Business was rather quiet on the Auckland sharemarket yesterday, but a steady inquiry for investment stocks was maintained. In Government securities Inscribed Stock, 1938, changed hands at £97 10s, late sellers quoting £97 l'ss. War Loan, 1930, again had? inquiry at £97 ss, and the 1938 and 1939 War Loan issues at £97 10s, no sellers quoting. Soldiers' bonds were quoted at £101 ss, and Soldiers' Inscribed Stock at £101. In banks New Zealands, which sold on the previous day at 61s 6d, were again available at that price, buyers offering 61s. Australasias were sought at £13 8s, a and Nationals of New Zealand at £6 13s 6d, without response. Union of Australia again had buyers at £14 2s 6d, sellers £14 7s 6d. In insurance New Zealands, which were inquired for on Wednesday at 30s 6d, had sale at 31s, late buyers offering 30s 9d. South British woce again sought at 44s without response. In gas Aucklands were again wanted at 245, sellers quoting 24s 9d. In shipping Devonport Steam Ferry were again quoted at 265. Huddart-Par-kers, which sold on Wednesday at 445, were again available at that figuie, buyers offering 43s 6d. There was a sale of Northern Steamships at 16s 6d, further buyers offering 16s, sellers 16s 9d. P. and 0. Deferred had inquiry at £305 ; holders not quoting. "In timber Kauris again changed hands at 30s 3d, late buyers offpr ing 23s 9d, sellers 30s 3d. In miseoli, laneous stocks there wa3 a transaction in Northern Boot and Shoe at 20s 6d, with further inquiry at 20s, sellers 20s 9d. In mining Waihis were unchanged with buy ers at 25s 6d, sellers 26s 6d. Waihi Grand Junctions again had buyers at Is Bd, sellers 2s 3d; Moanataiaris,"buyers Is 9d, sellers 2s 4d..
