HEAVY TRAFFIC LICENSES. CONFERENCE AT ROTORUA. [BT TELEGKAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAURANGA, Thursday. A meeting of the Borough Council was held last night. The town clerk of Rotorua wrote with regard to heavy traffic licenses. He said there was a suggestion made some months ago that the various local bodies in the district should hold a conference with regard to heavy traffic licenses, and that a scale of fees for a comprehensive license be considered and put into operation. It is proposed to hold a conference in Rotorua at as early a date as possible to arrange for the apportionment of fees and make application for the necessary Orders-in-Cbuncil. The Tauranga Council decided to co-operate, and appointed the Mayor to act as its delegate. It was decided to accept a reduction of £31 on rates on the showground, a deputation from the Agricultural and Pastoral Association having previously waited on the council in regard to the hoavy rating consequent on the unimproved value being adopted. In connection with the expenditure of the bequest of the lato Sir William Horries it was decided to write tc the Minister for Public Works asking that reclaimed land on tho waterfront bo handed over for beautifying, and that should the Government re-enter tho land the council be reimbursed the amovit expended on the area. Tho > Mayor reported that camping sites for visiting motorists would be provided on the eastern waterfront near Sixth Avonuo and on tho Domain.
