BAY OF ISLANDS CLUB.
ANNUAL RACE MEETING.
The Bay of Islands Racing Chib made a, good step forward last year, and the progressive spirits associated with that body are once again found working- enthusiastically to ensure another success in connection with the annual race meeting, which is fixed to be held on the Kawakawa racecourse on Saturday, January 17 next. The sum of £565 is offered in prize-money in connection with the eight events which form the programme, with the Kawakav/a Cup of £150 and a cup of the value of 40gns standing out as the leading event. The trophy attached to the Cup race has been presented by four ladies, viz., Mrs. H. H. Mountain, Mrs. C. F. C. Miller, Mrs. V. H. Reed, and Mrs. J. F. Wall. . , ~ „ Since the last meeting was held tho race track has been well attended to. and, with the appointments up to date, matters shaptt well for the Bay of Islands Club .to make further advancement. With special train, and boat arrangements and with the through express running from Auckland, that should ensure a record attendance at Kawakawa on January 17. , * From the programme, which will be found published in full in e.nother column, it will be seen that nominations for all events close on Thursday next, at 5 p.m., with the secretary.
