LYRIC THEATRE.

A double-feature programme will be shown at the Lvric Tbeatro to-morrow, including the 'Paramount production, " Tiger Love." Spain, land of romance, intrigue, thrills, and subtlo charm, is the venue of this latest production, "An unusual plot," -states a recent notice, " develops under the skilful touch of the director into one of the most gripping stories ever cast on the silver sheet, and to cap all, Antonio Moreno has the leading part as the Wildcat, an elusive, dashing, and handsome leader of banditti. Opposite him plays Estelle Taylor, whoso dramatic, abilities and personal charm are well known to the majority of picture lovers. Maneheta, the daughter of a penurious nobleman, on her way home from Seville, is captured by the Wildcat's men, but contrary to her expectations, she is treated with the Utmost respect and chivalry by thenleader. The finer feelings of the bandit are stirred by the girl's plight, and he allows her her freedom, though she take--his heart away with her. Arriving home, she finds her "father on the brink of ruin, and to save him, consents to marry the son of the Mayor, who holds the mortgages. The Wildcat is unable to bear the thought of Mancheta marrying another, and at the eleventh hour he makes a sensational raid on the town, carrying off both bride and bridegroom-to-be under the very eyes of the police. In his mountain lair he shows up .the groom for an arrant coward, and a high.lv desirable ending seems likely when the military clash up on rescue bent. The subsequent . events and disclosures will satisfy even the most exacting. Playing in support of the featured players are Manuel Camere, G. Raymond *Nye, Edgar Norton. David Torrence, Sriitz Edwards, and Monti Collins. The picture if an adaptation bv Howard Hawks of the opera, "The Wildcat," by Manuel Penella. An additional attraction in the new programme will be a film drama, " Big Happiness," with Dustin Farnum in the leading role.

"THE TEN COMMANDMENTS." The management of Everybody's Theatre announces that the way has been made clear to continue the season of "The Ten Commandments," thus enabling a much greater number of people to see the picture than would be the case were the season curtailed. This step has been decided upon largely because of the unprecedented interest which is being taken in Cue film by the. theatre-going public. "The Ten Commandments," in fact, is being discussed with greater interest by the Auckland public than any picture since "Intolerance," and it should interest filmlovers to know that Auckland is only the tenth city in the world to screen this picture. The story of the "Ten Commandments" is given in two versions, the Biblical one and the present-day views of the precepts given on the mountain. The Biblical story is told with wonderful realism, the chasing of the Israelites by the Egyptians on their way to the Promised Land, the opening of the Red Sea to give the pursued a crossing, and the closing of the waters on the pursuers as they endeavour to cross, meeting a terrible fate. The vivid pictures of the Commandments being inscribed on the tablet with vivid lightning flashes is marvellously conceived and carried out, and the picture will not be forgotten by those who see it for many a long day. The picture is being presented with a special musical score —identical with that which was used in the London Pavilion Theatre.

MUNICIPAL BAND CONCERT. A vocal and instrumental concert was given by the Municipal Band, assisted by Mrs. Cyril Towsey, in the Town Hall last evening. An excellent programme was provided and was greatly appreciated, the audience on several occasions insisting on encores. Mrs. Cyril Towsey's singing was a feature of tho evening. Her fine voice earned great applause in all her numbers and her rendering of " Annie Laurie " was encored. A cornet solo, " Killarney," by Mr. Fred Bowes, was encored, as was the band's overture, "Poet and Peasant" (Suppe.) Other items were: —March, "The White Lancers" (Richardson): descriptive fantasia, " A Highland Scene " (Moore) ; selection, " Gondoliers " (Sullivan) ; Spanish march, "Cadiz" (Valverde); minuctto, by request, from Boccherini; intermezzowaltz, " Chanson Bohemiennc " (Boldi) and suite, " Three Irish Dancers " (Ansell). The reputation established by tho band at its initial concert some weeks ago was fully maintained and indeed in some particulars the combination was improved. It is clear the band is a distinct asset to Auckland music.

CAROL CONCERT. In view of the large attendance at the carol concert in the Town hall last week it has been decided to repeat the programme next Saturday evening. The performers will include the Municipal Choir, Madame Trene Ainsley, and the city organist, Mr. Maughan Barnctt.
