CALCUTTA. Dec. 2. The extremist movement in India is assuming a personal aspect, tho spread of which can only result in greater communal tension. Recently the Karachi Corporation refused to grant a civic welcome to the Governor of Bombay, Lieut.-Colonel Wilson, on his visit, but after heated reconsideration of tho matteer it was decided to vote a small sum for a public reception.

The Bombay Corporation, after an acrimonious discussion, decided last evening that their chairman should represent fhem at public functions during the forthcoming visit of the Viceroy, Lord Heading. The chairman, who is an extremist, promptly resigned.

Both incidents are regarded as an insult to the personages concerr.cd,. particularly as tho Calcutta Corporation recently welcomed Gandhi with a great reception.
