MOBRINSVILLE, Tuesday,

The Morrinsville municipal swimming baths, costing £2000. were officially opened in the presence of a large gathering by Mr. B. Chapman, chairman of the baths committee, when a swimming carnival was held. The baths are 100 ft. long by 36ft. wide, the depth is 4ft. at, the shallow end, running to Bft. 6in. at tho other. There is a children's bath adjoining the shallow end of the main bath, this being 36ft. by 6ft., with a depth varying from 17in. to 2ft. The baths are fitted up with every convenience, including electric light, a water shute, springboards, etc. There is ample room for spectators, and everything is up-to-date. The baths are generally recognised as among the finest in the province. There were large entries for the carnival, inehuliug Hamilton and Cambridge swimmers, and the events were keenly contested. The boys' swimming sports of the Seddon Technical College were held at the Shelly Beach Baths yesterday. Entries were numerous and there were several close and exciting finishes, notably in the 100 yds. handicap, when Shanley won from rington by less than a yard. The house relay race caused much excitement, Weilesley winning from Binns after a, very close finish. Tho senior championship was won by (i.
