AUCKLAND PRESBYTERY.

NEW PAPAKURA MINISTER.

THE BIBLE CLASS MOVEMENT.

The first meeting in the Auckland Presbytery's new year was held yesterday, the Rev. D. D. Scott, moderator, presiding.

The Rev. R. R. Greenwood, of Papakura, was declared a minister of the church. It was also resolved that the Papakura, charge should be placed on the church extension basis, and that Mr. Greenwood should be made the minister. A cordial welcome is to be extended to him on 'iris initiation.

It was decided that the matter of removing the present church at Papakura to a different position to make room for a new church building, should be remitted to the property and finance committee, which was vested with power to act. A letter from the Rev. J. Comrie, secretary of the finance committee of the Assembly, intimated that the Auckland Presbytery was £294 short of its budget contribution for last year. The amount allocated to the Presbytery was £3796, and the amount received was £3502.

The moderator and the clerk were appointed to meet the new GovernorGeneral, Sir Charles Fergusson, upon his. arrival in Auckland.

Misses French and Smith, representatives of the Bible Class Association, attended the Presbytery. Miss French stated the Bible class movement would attain its majority next year, and it was proposed to celebrate the occasion on an extensive scale. She urged members of the Presbytery to lend their support to the movement. A resolution was carried congratulating the association, and a promise was also made to support the cam-

paign. The Revs. R. Harries, H. Roseveare, D. C. Herron, and W. Mawson, and Messrs. Harbutt and Hill, who represented the Presbytery at the General Assembly at Palmerston North in November, gave their views to the Presbytery on the work at the meeting. They were unanimous that the Assembly was a highly successful one. The Rev. Angus McDonald has resigned from the New Lynn charge in order to take up an appointment at Richmond.
