DROWNED IN THE HARBOUR.
INQUEST ON HAMILTON MAN.
UNDER . INFLUENCE OF LIQUOR.
The inquest concerning the death of Joseph Alexander Duncan, of Hamilton, whose body was found in the Auckland Harbour on November 7, was concluded before the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., yesterday.
Dr. D. N. W. Murray said a post mortem examination had disclosed no marks of violence on the body.
Sergeant Row ell, of Devonport, stated he had assisted in the search for the body at 2.25 a.m. on November 2. Among the party on the wharf was a young man who told witness he had been waiting for the night launch when he heard a call for help and informed the police. The stranger appeared to have been quite frank to witness and he left Vevonport by the launch. In witness opinion there was no suggestion of foul pta>. The coroner commented on the fact that deceased had been under the influenceof liquor and returned a verdict of found drowned.
