COMMENT IN FRANCE.
INFLUENCE OF ELECTICFNS.
INTER-ALLIED DEBTS QUESTION. Times. LONDON. Nov. 7. French political circles are greatly impressed by Mr. Coolidge's large majority. There is much discussion as to what effect the Republican victory is likely to have on American foreign policy, particularly in relation to France. The Paris correspondent of the Times states that on the whole the tendency is to expect an increasing inclination on the part of the United States to co-operate in the restoration of the normal conditions in Europe.
The election of General Dawes as VicePresident is regarded as a guarantee that strict application of the reparation report bearing his name will at least be a matter of some interest to tho American Government. There is also an earnest hope that American financiers will show themselves to be favourably disposed toward France, but it is realised that their attitude will greatly depend on France's success in clearing up her own financial
ifficulties. The question of inter-Allied debt pay-
ments, which Mr. Coolidge is expected to demand, remains one of those unpleasant subjects which are mentioned as seldom as possible.
