SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES

DAMAGE IN NEW SOUTH WALES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received 7.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Nov. 9. Rain continued to fall through the night and this has caused serious floods. Many narrow escapes are recorded. Torrential rains yesterday covered portions of the wheat area, where the crops were levelled. Serious damage to the grain is anticipated. Bathurst and Dubbo report that the lower portions of both towns are under water, The rivers are rising rapidly in many places.
Floods aro reported over a wide area, and there have been many washaways on the railway. One boy is reported to have been drowned.
The floods are accompanied by cyclonic winds.
