WIFE NOT MAINTAINED.
MAN SENT TO PRISON.
THREE MONTHS* HARD LABOUR.
That he had failed lo provide his wife with adequate maintenance was admitted by William Jocsph Hill, aged 33, in the Police Court before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., on Saturday.
On September 21, 1922, said SeniorSergeant Bawlo, accused left his wife and three children at Wellington with only £10. lie had been living with another woman, and had not contributed one penny towards his family's support. Dorothy Mary HUT said she corresponded with her husband for six months after he left her, and theU her letters used to be returned. She had to work to keep herself, and family. Accused intimated that he was willing to abide by an order for 30s a week. "He leaves his wife and children to
starve and then comes along and says he will consent to an order," said Mr. Hunt. " This wife desertion must be stopped. He will be sentenced to three months' hard labour, and an order for 30s a week wilj be made, to commence when ho comes out of gaoL"
