DISSATISFIED CREDITORS.
A BANKRUPT CONTRACTOR.
PROSECUTION TO BE SOUGHT
[I3V TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WHANGAREI. Friday Another meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of James Boothman, of Kamo, contractor, took place this morning. Boothman admitted that he was already an undischarged bankrupt, having filed his petition at Taumarunui about February. 1.923. The conduct of the, bankrupt in obtaining credit in the Whangarei district since Easter of 1923 without informing his creditors that he was an undischarged bankrupt was severely commented on, as was, also his failure to account satisfactorily for monoy received during the past 18 months. His wife was also examined, and she contended that a boot repairing business at Kaino was her own, as she had bought the tools while at Granity. Westland, and none of bankrupt's money was in the business. * At the conclusion uf the examination a creditor expressed the opinion iV.ut bankrupt should be made an example oi. because he had been goimi round incurring debts while already bankrupt, and in order that business people should have at least some measure of protection from people of his class. Ihe fact that Boothman admitted having used an assumed name on various occasions, said the creditor, was a distinctly bad feature. The meeting decided that the evidence be forwarded t 0 the Crown Prosecutor seeking; a prosecution against Boothman for incurring debts while an undischarged bankrupt, and also for contractdebts while not being in a position to pay them. Boothman was then warned not to leave the district. His liabilities to creditors under the first bankruptcy totalled £225 9s Id, and they .have first claim upon any assets.
